Meridian Trimmer Won’t Turn On: 5 Solutions I Recommend

Meridian Trimmer Won’t Turn On

I know what it’s like when you’re looking to freshen up with a nice trim but your trimmer just won’t work. It’s happened to me a couple of times before.

But, I was able to figure it out, and I can help you do the same if your Meridian trimmer won’t turn on no matter what you try.

5 Reasons Why Meridian Trimmer Won’t Turn On

  1. Battery Depletion or Faulty Battery

If you haven’t tried plugging your trimmer in and giving it a bit before turning it on again, try that. Some patience might be all it takes to get the device going.

But, if that doesn’t work, maybe there’s something wrong with the battery instead. It could’ve died or developed some faults after prolonged use.

For starters, I recommend trying to turn on the trimmer while it charges. If it works when you have it plugged in but not otherwise, the battery is seriously faulty since it’s not holding charge anymore.

If even direct power from the outlet isn’t helping, the battery is fully dead and needs to be replaced. That’s not something you can fix at home, so I suggest taking it to a repair shop for replacements.

  1. Internal Component Damage

The battery inside your Meridian trimmer isn’t the only thing that can go bad. There are a lot of other components in the small device that can be damaged too.

Unfortunately, there’s too many specific ones for me to single out, because I could mention one thing and your problem could lie in a completely different place.

So, instead of looking for specific problematic components, I suggest you take the covers off of your Meridian trimmer and inspect the whole device to see if there’s any notable burns, jams, or damage on any specific part.

Even if you can’t find anything, there could be internal components that have issues, which you’ll need a repairperson to look at.

Honestly, in specific cases like these, it’s sometimes so difficult to get proper repairs that it’s easier to get a replacement for the entire device itself.

If you still have the warranty on your trimmer, I recommend cashing it in and getting a new one. That’s because trimmer repairs tend to be difficult and expensive to get.

  1. Water Damage

Meridian trimmers are are almost always waterproof and save to use in the shower. However, it’s not completely impossible for them to get water damaged.

If you’re still in doubt about whether the Meridian trimmer is really waterproof or not, I have made a video about this which you can watch below.

You can see here that my model of Meridian trimmer still works great after I wash it with water.

This is especially common for people that tend to use them to trim in the shower. If that sounds like you, I recommend opening the device up with some tools and checking for water damage.

If you sense any kind of moisture or see wetness, take the battery out of the trimmer and using a blow dryer on it. That should completely dry all of the components up and get rid of any waterlogging.

Once you give it a good dry, leave it be for a few hours before plugging it in to see if it charges and turns on.

  1. Faulty On/Off Trigger

One thing I recommend checking out is the on/off switch. It’s a pretty important but relatively weak part of any trimmer that can easily jam or become dysfunctional.

If there’s any damage to it, or some kind of jamming on the inside, this switch gets and cannot register when you’re trying to turn the device on.

It’s happened to me before, and I was able to fix my Meridian trimmer by giving it a good cleaning; particularly around the switch.

Any debris or blockages there can make the switch stop working

Any debris or blockages there can make the switch stop working, which ultimately stops the entire device from turning on as it doesn’t know when the switch is being pressed. I tend to check up on it regularly as a result, and suggest that you do the same.

  1. Jammed Blade

Speaking of jams, the blade itself can get stuck in place if you don’t take good care of your Meridian trimmer. Since it’s always in contact with hair when being used, some tiny pieces can seep into corners around the blade, towards the inside of the device.

You’d be surprised by how much these small hairs can build up. Some people don’t watch out for that sort of thing, which ultimately leads to the blade getting stuck in place. Make sure you don’t make the same mistake.

I have made a short video about how you can clean or change the blade of the Meridian trimmer. You can watch this video below.

First, detach the blade from the trimmer and then use water to clean the blade (Note: don’t use water directly on the trimmer itself without its blade installed). After that, use a brush to remove all the hair or debris trapped in the Meridian trimmer.

Lastly, if you have a new blade for your Meridian Trimmer, just attach and install it to the trimmer.

Personally, I keep the blade part of the trimmer soaked in a tiny bit of water and then turn it on. That tends to get any debris and stuck hairs out.
