5 Reasons Why My Karcher Carpet Cleaner Not Spraying Water

A Karcher carpet cleaner won’t be of much help if it is not spraying water.

Actually, this is one of the most common problems faced by Karcher Puzzi Series Carpet Cleaner.

It’ll be able to get rid of some dust, but not get the job done fully.

Water-based cleaning is one of the main features of this cleaner and I find it so helpful.

But, you obviously can’t use that feature if the cleaner won’t spray water in the first place.

Fixing A Karcher Carpet Cleaner That Is Not Spraying Water

  1. Loose Cap On Tank

The first troubleshooting tip I want to start with is a mistake I make every now and then. This mistake is leaving the cap on the dirty water tank loose.

It’s easy to do something like that when you’re distracted with cleaning. But, it’s important to always close the cap properly.

It can ruin suction for the dirty water tank and cause problems with the entire cleaner.

That’s because if there are things wrong with the dirty tank, that will stop the device from picking up water.

And, if your Karcher carpet cleaner is not picking up water, it’ll also have problems with spraying water.

The cap I’m talking about is in the image below this. It needs to be properly set on the dirty water tank for things to go smooth.

So, just make sure you avoid making the same mistake as me!

  1. Proper Water and Detergent Amount

This next is a little too obvious, but I want to get it out of the way just in case.

All Karcher carpet cleaners come with a recommended water and detergent amount.

When you’re putting water into the clean water tank, always adhere to those recommended amounts to avoid problems.

Make sure you follow the maximum temperature amount too.

These are all different depending on the specific model you have. But, they’re easy enough to find. Here’s a picture I took that shows these things on my Karcher Puzzi 10/1:

If you go beyond these ranges, or put too much detergent inside the tank, it can lead to problems. The overload can also stop water from spraying out of the hose.

So, just be careful with those and that should be enough.

I normally use only one cube of Karcher detergent powder per tank.

  1. Check The Hose For Blockages

I think the biggest, and by far the most common reason for something like this happening, is the hose being blocked.

In this case, I specifically mean the hose on the cleaner’s floor head as shown in the image below.

This is where the clean water comes out from, and any blockages can prevent your Karcher carpet cleaner from spraying water.

So, I think you should give it a good look. Here’s a picture I took of the hose:

You can tell by how tiny it is compared to my finger that the hose is pretty small, as is the pipe attached to it. So, cleaning it yourself is going to be a tough job.

It’s possible to use a needle or brush to get rid of things near the nozzle. But that won’t always work.

So, instead of trying to open it up with tools, I recommend using clean, hot water to get rid of blockages. Usually these blockages are just caused by tiny debris or hardened soap.

If you fill the clean water tank up with hot tap water, and try to spray it out non-stop at full speed, that should be enough to move any debris blocking the way.

Then your hose will be clear and the water should spray out.

But, on the off chance that the blockage is a bit too strong, I suggest using vinegar.

Soak the nozzle and its pipe in a vinegar solution and leave it there for some time. That should dissolve everything and get it out.

  1. Make Sure The Filter Is Clean

There is a fluff filter inside the dirty water tank. This helps keep the dirty water in place and makes sure clean water doesn’t seap inside, or vice versa.

If that filter gets dirty or damaged, your Karcher carpet cleaner might stop spraying water. So, just give it a good cleaning to rule that problem out.

You can find the filter inside the compartment I have highlighted in the image below.

You’ll need to open that compartment to see the actual filter, and then clean it.

  1. Faulty Spray Button

Instead of something awfully technical or specific, the button to spray water out of your Karcher carpet cleaner might be the one responsible for this.

If there’s an issue with the button, the device won’t know you want it to start spraying. It’s another common reason for something like this, and the last of my suggested solutions.

Give the button I’m pointing at in my picture a close look. Detach it if you must, and clean the area around it before reattaching it or getting a replacement, as it could be blocked or faulty.

Doing this should register your input, and get the carpet cleaner spraying water again.
