HART chargers have a single tiny light on them that can shine a number of ways. While the only two colors it displays are red and blue, it does that in different patterns.

All The Different HART Battery Charger Indicator Light Meanings
- Solid Red Light on HART Charger
A bright red light can be alarming when it’s the first thing you see after turning the HART charger on. But, don’t worry just because of the color. This light isn’t a warning sign.
In fact, a solid red light on a HART charger just means that it’s ready to charge your battery. It’s the first light users will see when they turn the charger on.
The solid red light will stay on as long as the charger is plugged in until you put it on a HART battery.
- Flashing Green Light on HART Charger
As soon as you put a healthy battery on the HART charger, its color will change to green. Not only that, it will start blinking on and off at a regular pace too.
HART chargers use this pattern to indicate that the connected battery is charging properly. Here’s an image that’ll give you an idea of what the blinking is like.
A charging indicator is obviously not any cause for concern, and I don’t think there’s a lot more to add to it either.
- Solid Green Light on HART Charger
The other green light your HART charger will show will stay static instead of blinking. After you have a battery charging for long enough, this light will show up.
At least, hopefully it will. After all, a solid green light means your HART battery is finally at 100% charge.
Like the solid red light which is a sign that the battery is ready to be plugged in, this one is a sign that it’s ready to be removed.
- Regular Speed Flashing Red Light on HART Charger
Now, it’s finally time for the patterns that confuse a bunch of users. I’ll start off with the pattern that simply says “testing” on the HART charger, next to the blinking red symbol.
That symbol refers to a red light blinking at a steady pace. And in this case, testing means overheating. That means the regular blinking red light means your battery is too hot.
The same pattern will also show if your HART battery is too cold, although that’s much rarer than overheating. The red light will keep blinking at the same speed during this.
Overheating (and overcooling) are both serious causes for concern, which is why this warning light exists. Don’t let your HART battery charge if you see this indicator pop up.
Get it out of the charger the moment you notice the pattern. I recommend keeping it on a table away from any drastic heat or cold. Let it sit for a few hours and it should go back to normal.
- Irregularly Flashing Red Light on HART Charger
The difference between it and the last pattern is that this one will blink much more sporadically. One moment it’ll blink really fast, and the next it’ll slow down.
The speed will keep changing. That irregular red flashing light only shows when users plug a faulty battery into their HART charger.
In other words, you’re seeing this because your HART battery is not charging anymore since it’s dead. There’s the option to try and jumpstart it, but you may have to buy a new one.
