There always has been confusion between me and my Stanley Fatmax battery charger, sometimes it shows me a green light, the other times that same light flashes on me and then sometimes it’s a solid red light.
The charger works like a traffic light and I was always left confused as I did not know the meaning behind them until one day I decided to decode these lights and find out what they mean.
I also made a short video about this topic which I uploaded on my YouTube channel but you can also watch it below.
Here’s the summary of what each light means: blinking green – battery is charging, solid green – battery is fully charged, red – hot/cold delay, no light – bad battery, solid green but battery indicator is not full – bad battery.
Meanings of the Indicator Lights on a Stanley Fatmax Battery Charger
Here are the meanings of the Stanley Fatmax battery charger.
Blinking Green – Charging
This is the light that you always want to see in your charger. If your Stanley Fatmax is blinking green then it means the battery is charging in a normal way and you should let it charge for some hours before it is ready to be used again.
Normally I let my battery charge for 3 hours before using it again, the status can then be confirmed when the charger shows a solid green light.
Solid Green – Fully Charged
The solid green light always means good and on the Stanley Fatmax charger it also has the same meaning. The charger will display a solid green light when it has completed charging and is ready to be used again.
If you see this light on the charger this means that the battery is fully charged to 100% and is perfectly healthy. Turn off the charger at this point and remove the battery to prevent it from overcharging.
Blinking Green and Red Solid light – Hot and Cold Delay
If the charger is showing a flashing green light and the red light on the temperature icon is on this means that the battery is not in a safe condition to be charged.
It’s a safety feature in the Stanley Fatmax charger which prevents the battery from charging if it’s too cold or too hot. If you see this light, wait for the battery to reach normal room temperature and then try charging it again.
No Light – Bad Battery Case 1
If the charger shows no light at all when plugged into charging, then this means that the battery has gone bad or is either dead.
The Stanley Fatmax charger doesn’t have any indicator to show bad battery condition and gives no light when the battery is not being able to charge.
Bad Battery Case 2
In another scenario the battery charger showed me a solid green light but the battery itself remained dead. This can happen when the battery is depleted or too dead to be charged back to healthy levels again.
