  1. Remove loose hinges from the cabinet door.

Firstly, use an electric drill to unfasten screws from your loose cabinet door hinge. Alternatively, you can use a hand screwdriver to manually remove the screws.

  1. Drill new wider holes on top of the initial screw holes.

Secondly, mark a quarter inch from the tip of the electric drill with a drill depth stopper ring. Then, proceed to drill a wider hole on top of the previous screw holes in a circular motion.

I didn’t have a drill depth ring with me at this time. So, I created a makeshift drill depth stopper with duct tape.

As shown in the picture above, I taped both ends like a mini flag. To my surprise, it worked!

  1. Create new screw anchors with wood dowel pins.

Thirdly, hammer a wood dowel pin securely in place then remove the excess pin with a hacksaw.

If you find the wood dowel pin still loose within the new hole, hammer it down until there is no wiggle space.

However, in the making of this guide, I accidentally scratched the surface of my cabinet. I believe my mistake was the way I handled my hacksaw.

Instead of placing my working hand on the cabinet door as support, I should have let it hang freely. With that, my hacksaw blade can be leveled the same angle as my cabinet door at 90 degrees.

Finally, install the cabinet door hinge on top of the new screw anchor site and drill it into place with electric drill and screws.

Well done! Now you have a sturdy and stable cabinet door hinge at your home.
