The answer is yes!

Unfortunately, I have had my fair share of dried paint brushes and rollers that ended up in the garbage.

With a goal to reuse waste products, let me share with you two tips on how to preserve paint brushes and rollers long term.

Firstly, prepare one cloth rag, one plastic bottle and one elastic band.

The next step, cut out a strip of cloth and plastic that is enough to cover the bristles of the paint brush.

Then, use an elastic band to assemble the newly upcycled paint brush.

  1. Repurpose old paint roller with a cloth rag and PVC pipe.

Begin by preparing one cloth rag, one PVC pipe, glue and a hacksaw.

Then, cut the PVC pipe according to the length of the roller.

And then, cut out a strip of cloth and glue it on the outside of the PVC pipe.

Lastly, slide the PVC pipe over the old roller and use it normally.

Note: Make sure the inner diameter of the PVC pipe fits the outer diameter of the paint roller.

Of course, it will always be messy when doing painting works.

However, there are ways to keep the mess minimal.

For example, I use plastic cup lid can be a makeshift drip catcher for my paint brush.

Now, I don’t have to worry about getting paint drips on my hand.

  1. Skill Hack: Tape the edge of a paint brush for painting narrow corners.

Sometimes, I have only bulky paint brushes in my toolbox and it can make a mess when I paint narrow corners.

Hence, to modify my brushes, I take a small part of the bristle and tape it into a fine brush.

In conclusion, these are my ways of preserving paint brushes and roller long term.

Furthermore, you can easily replace the cloth rag and continue using the expired painting tools in the future.
