There’s a couple of huge lights on the Craftsman charger, and a small red one too. All of them combine to shine in several ways, with each different pattern indicating something else.
I shouldn’t have to tell you that it’s important to know what those different things are. So, keep going through this guide to learn about Craftsman battery charger lights and their meaning.
Craftsman Battery Charger Lights Meaning
- Blinking Green
Both of the large lights on your Craftsman charger will (hopefully) blink green after you plug a battery in. They’ll keep alternating between being off and glowing a bright green.
This is the indicator that tells you your Craftsman battery Is charging fine. You have nothing to stress over, and there are no present issues with the battery or its charger.
The photo above should give you an idea of what the blinking green lights look like. They’ll keep changing between those two different stages up there until the battery has full power.
- Staying Green
Eventually, the blinking will stop. Instead of going between the two different stats, the lights on your Craftsman charger will stay green only. It’ll stay that way until the battery is there.
This is the light that tells users their Craftsman battery is done charging. The charger will look how it does in the photo below, and the light pattern won’t change until the battery’s removal.
- Blinking Green and Solid Red
You know what the blinking green lights mean now. But, what does it mean when they’re accompanied by a solid red light in the middle too? Well, it’s certainly no good, I can tell you that much.
This specific pattern signals bad temperatures. Whether the battery is too hot or too cold, it will show these exact lights in both cases. Here’s what they look like!
An interesting fact about this pattern is that it’s the only unique pattern to showcase a problem with Craftsman batteries. There are no other lights that specifically mean there’s a complication.
- What Pattern Is There For Dead Batteries?
Those that’ve read some of the other guides I have for charger lights know there’s a pattern for dead batteries on most chargers. But, fascinatingly enough, Craftsman chargers don’t have that.
There isn’t any special light that will specifically tell people that the battery they’re trying to charge is dead. Instead, one of two possibilities can happen, which I’ll talk about next.

- No Light After Plugging Battery
No light on the Craftsman charger after putting the battery on it possibly means that it’s dead. It’s not accepting power from the charger or forming a connection with it, so there’s no light.
A lack of response and lights is the main way the charger will tell users that their battery is dead.
It might not be dead, and maybe there’s just something wrong with the connection between both components. That’s why there are no lights turning on.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear because there’s no indicator for it. You’ll have to use a multimeter on the battery and its cells to confirm if its truly dead or not.
- Solid Green Light But No Charging
Another way to know if your battery is dead is through the solid green lights. That pattern tells you about a full-power battery, right? Well, what if it shows up even though the battery isn’t at 100%?
What if the battery life indicator says that the battery is dead like in the picture below, but the charger says it’s fully charged? That means you have an unhealthy battery.
Again, it isn’t 100% certain. But, the battery being faulty in this scenario is a lot likelier than the first scenario. I’d suggest a multimeter to confirm it entirely even in this case.
