Everyone loves jamming out to their favorite tunes, especially if it’s to entertain them while they’re working. It’s kind of hard to do that when you work with construction equipment and power tools, though.

Tools can be pretty loud. But, that’s what the DeWALT Bluetooth speakers are for. They make it much easier to enjoy music at work sites. But, you can only enjoy music if the speaker can play it.

Try out the four troubleshooting tips for a DeWALT Bluetooth speaker and its most common problems if yours isn’t working right. They’ll help you get rid of most issues that might pop up!

Troubleshooting 4 Common DeWALT Bluetooth Speaker Problems

  1. Not Turning On

DeWALT speakers, much like their tools, run on external batteries. They use the same batteries as tools, in fact. I use a 20v battery with my DeWALT speakers.

Keep in mind that just like the tools, the battery can be problematic on the speaker too. If yours isn’t turning on, it’s probably because of the battery having some kind of issue.

there's something wrong with the contact points.

If I had to guess, I’d say there’s something wrong with the contact points. These speakers can withstand harsh working conditions. But, that doesn’t mean they have full protection from dirt and debris.

Because of all the dirt flying around in construction environments, I’d reckon some got on the contact points. Get a look at the DeWALT battery and its speaker to confirm this.

debris causes issues with contact points on speaker

Cleaning the contact points should get the speaker to turn on again. Dirty contacts will stop power from flowing from the battery to the speaker, which is how they’re related to this issue.

Although, if cleaning the contacts doesn’t work, it could be the battery is starting to die on you. Try an extra battery to see if that works with the Bluetooth speaker.

Maybe a coworker or someone could lend you an extra, if you don’t have one. Trying the other battery will confirm if the issue lies with the speaker or battery, and which of the two you have to replace.

You can try to fix a problematic DeWALT battery by resetting it. I have made a short video which shows how you can do this and you can watch it below.

You need another DeWALT battery with similar specs in order to do this. Connect the B+ terminal of the DeWALT battery to the B+ terminal of the other battery, and do the same with their B- terminals.

While connected, press the battery indicator to make sure it is receiving power. Just jump start it for few seconds and the reset is done.

I also have a video which shows about how I fixed my DeWALT 20V battery which doesn’t fully charge. You can watch this video below.

Like in the previous video, you also need another healthy DeWALT battery with similar specs in order to do this. The first step here is also similar, you must also connect the B+ and B- terminals of the two batteries.

Let the two batteries stay connected for around 15 seconds and then disconnect them. Put the battery to charge again on the charger and it should now be able to fully charge now.

  1. Bad Sound Quality

One thing a lot of people complain about is how their DeWALT Bluetooth speaker just suddenly sounds much worse. Now, this could be speaker damage if the volume is terribly distorted or whatever.

In that case, you would need to replace the speakers inside the device entirely. Replacement parts are easy to find on Amazon. I’ve bought extra speaker parts for my model (DCR006) from there too.

A lot of people complain how their DeWALT Bluetooth speaker just suddenly sounds much worse.

Removing the current speakers inside the box and replacing them with the new ones is a different process depending on the model you have. But, the manual should help with that.

However, if the sound is mostly normal and just really faint or muffled, I think I know what’s actually going on. It’s probably just that the speakers got dirty, and you have to clean them out.

clean the speakers if necessary

First things first, you have to get the speakers outside of the box. For that, you’ll have to open up each screw on the casing, and then the screws inside.

You’ll run into some circuit boards. These are attached to the speaker, so you know you’re close. Use compressed air to blow dirt out of the speakers and clean it with a cloth.

Reassemble the box after putting the speakers back in place. That’ll get rid of the muffled/faint effect on the sound quality, and your music should be playing at high volumes again!

  1. Aux Port Not Working

Some DeWALT Bluetooth speakers aren't limited to just Bluetooth

Some DeWALT Bluetooth speakers aren’t limited to just Bluetooth, which is pretty neat. They let you connect to them with an aux cable, something that I find quite handy.

Even though the speakers have quite the range on them for wireless connections, I’d say using the aux is much more reliable. But, you can’t do that if the aux port isn’t working.

the aux port can get dirt around it

That’s yet another issue that has to do with dirt around the speaker, thanks to the environment these are commonly in. That dirt can get inside the aux port, which is why this happens.

Much like the contact points I was talking about earlier, the aux port can get dirt around it too. Just like the contact points, that dirt stops the wire from establishing a connection with the speaker.

clean out the aux port on speaker

Cleaning out the port with a cotton bud or something should be enough. If there’s some extra gunk burrowed in there, you’ll need a needle or a tool to pull it out.

Once it’s clean, though, the aux port on your DeWALT speaker should be working just fine. Just give it a good cleaning every now and then to avoid this happening in the future!

  1. DeWALT Bluetooth Speaker Not Connecting

Unsurprisingly, Bluetooth issues are pretty common with a Bluetooth speaker. Regardless of the model you have, you’re sure to run into issues with your DeWALT speaker’s Bluetooth.

Bluetooth issues are pretty common with a Bluetooth speaker.

Most of the time, it’s going to be problems with the connection specifically. It just won’t connect to the phone you always pair it to, despite not having trouble doing so other times.

This is just a common issue with Bluetooth devices in general, and not just these particular speakers. Bluetooth is infamous for its troublesome connections, after all.

Regardless, it’s nothing a quick restart of both your phone and the DeWALT speaker shouldn’t fix. That’ll reset the connection entirely, and get both devices to pair together.

restarting the speaker

Phones are easy to restart. As for the speaker, just push the power button to boot it off and back on, like I’m doing in the picture above. Then, you’re ready to start pairing the two together again.

I suggest pairing another phone to the speaker if it still has trouble connecting to your phone after the restart. Once the other phone is paired, disconnect it.

Now, once the DeWALT Bluetooth speaker is back in pairing mode, enable Bluetooth on your phone and try to pair the two. It should work, and you’ll be able to listen to music just fine!
