Looking up at the AEG charger, I wanted to read the tiny signs and lamps. At first sight, the panel appeared very basic… Measures for batteries, ratings of temperature and marks for fit 12V, 14.4V and 18V batteries.
Clearly without decorations simple gear to do the work. Now I will try to understand what every light means.

The steady red lamp of the charger in the bottom part caught my attention right away. It seems that it stays in a waiting mode, simply sitting here waiting for someone to put in a battery. That makes sense, no battery yet, so it keeps the red light shining, ready to act when someone plugs something in.
Understanding AEG Battery Charger Indicator Lights

Steady red light came on, later blinking green joined it, the perfect sign for everything. If the lamps show that mix, you know that the battery takes in energy and charges up great.

The red lamp turned off, and steady green took the role, showing full charge. When that steady green light shines, the battery is ready to use. Simply unplug and use it.

A bit later, the charger started to show red light without any green. That shows the warning light for temperature. If it only shows red, the heat is outside of the allowed range four charging.
The charging process will not start until it again reaches the acceptable range.

A little icon of a thermometer beside the LED lamps is the AEG way to watch heat. That charger is made to watch everything closely and stop the charging if it finds heat problems. When the situation settles, the lamps again follow their usual charging order.

The final blinking light pattern was really annoying. Blinking red and green lights signal a broken battery, maybe a dead cell or something with the management system of the battery.

When that red-green mix of lamps came up, my heart sank, the battery must be dying, I thought. It only requires you to remove the battery, wait a bit, later put it back on the charger. That resets the system and forces it to again check the state of the battery.
Sometimes that fixes a little problem that caused the mistake early, and the charging goes on normally. A great quick test before dumping a costly unit. When I understood the meaning of the lights, the whole setup seemed very logical.
It covers the main cases that I needed to know.
