The Sharper Image massage gun is a must have tool, it helps me feel relief after a long day of work. It is one of the best investments I have ever made in recent times but suddenly last week it bailed on me.

At first I thought it was out of charge and only needed a recharge but as soon as I hooked it on the charger nothing happened. The massager did not charge and it stayed, that’s when I realized that I needed to find a fix for this.

But before you continue reading this article, you may first watch the short video about this topic. You can watch it below.

On the video, I showed how I fixed this problem by opening my Sharper Image massage gun in order to access its internal components and check if the batteries need to be replaced.

How to Fix Sharper Image Massage Gun Not Charging

This is what I did to fix it and here is how you can fix it too.

First I made sure to use a proper charging adapter to charge it via USB-C. It uses a 5V adapter to charge it and as soon as you plug in the USB-C in the bottom the display lights up and the charging starts.

made sure to use a proper charging adapter to charge it via USB-C.

If you are not seeing anything on the display and there is no charging indication the problem is likely more serious.

This is what happened to me too and I decided to open the massager to access its internal components and battery to investigate for any faults.

open the massager to access its internal components and battery

To access the internals, remove the sticker at the bottom which then reveals three screws, there were 2 more screws hidden with plastic tabs on the mouth of the massager.

Once I removed the screws I twisted, opened the bottom cover and disconnected the charging unit from the massager.

4 pieces of 18650 batteries connected in series

Then with enough pressure and prying tools I managed to disassemble the whole massager and access the battery which was neatly hidden inside the handle of the massager.

I quickly disconnected the battery from the board and removed its plastic cover to check the battery’s output. It turned out to be 4 pieces of 18650 batteries connected in series to output a voltage of 14.8V to the motor.

I used a multimeter to check if the battery was dead

I used a multimeter to check if the battery was dead, you should check the output voltage of the battery and if it’s far below the 14,8V mark then it means that the battery is dead and is not able to hold charge, replacing the battery can help you fix the problem.

replace the entire battery pack or individual 18650 cell to fix the problem.

Next I decided to check if the battery pack actually received power to charge. For this I connected the massage gun to the charger and turned it on.

Then I checked if the voltage supplied by the charging slot is enough for the battery to charge. If everything is normal but the battery is still not charging, replace the entire battery pack or individual 18650 cell to fix the problem.
