A while back, I made the switch from the normal manual brush to the Oral-B iO toothbrush and it has been a great upgrade in my dental routine.
As a tech enthusiast, all the features on the brush and in the app really excite me. The brush is easy to switch out after a few months and the app makes the tracking very convenient.
So far, it never really gave me any issue until yesterday when the brush went out of sync and was no longer connected to the app. I tried reconnecting the Bluetooth but that also didn’t work.
But before you continue reading this article, you may first watch the short video I made about this topic. You can watch the video below.
On the video I demonstrated the 3 different ways on how you can reset your Oral-B iO brush. You can reset it by using the power button, using the Oral-B app, or by doing a manual reset.
3 Methods to Reset Oral-B iO Toothbrush
Here are the methods I tried to fix the issue. Follow along if you are facing the same problem with your Oral-B brush:
1. Reset Using Power Button
The very first thing I thought of to reset my Oral-B iO brush is by using the power button. For that, I first turned off the brush, then I held the power button for 10 seconds.
The indicator light started blinking and showing blue, green, yellow, orange, red lights indicating that the power button reset is working.
After holding the power button, the light again changed to blue showing a complete setup. This method usually works and resets my smart brush super fast.

2. Reset Using the Oral-B App
The power button reset worked for me but to be sure I tried resetting the brush through the app too. I opened the Oral-B app and connected the toothbrush to the app using Bluetooth.
Once paired, I tapped on settings and then on the brush name to finish resetting. From there, I clicked on “Reset brush settings” and confirmed the permissions. This reset the brush to the original setting, fixing the sync problem completely.
3. Manual Reset
For most cases, the reset and setup method works in fixing any issues but sometimes these mechanical brushes give you a really hard time with their technical issues.
Don’t worry, there’s also a manual method to reset the toothbrush settings: removing and reinserting the battery.
To do this, just plug the brush to the Oral-B toothbrush charger that it came with and give it a gentle twist and the cover should pop right out. Next, slowly pull out the inner battery mechanism without damaging it and let it sit for a minute or so to let it reset.
After a few minutes the electronic components will reset themselves, put the battery back into the brush casing carefully along with the spring and ring.
Once everything is in place, power on the brush and it should be ready to pair again.
This is what I came up with to fix the connection issue with my Oral-B brush, hopefully one of these methods might help you with resetting your brush too. Just remember to use the manual method as the last resort and you’re good to go.
