The Oral-B Braun has been my morning partner for a very long time now.
I have been using this toothbrush from last one year now and it has been nothing but a great machine helping me clean my teeth and start my mornings fresh, until last week when it decided to give up on me.
I thought maybe it lost its charging so I put it up on charging but again there was nothing, just dead silence.
I also made a video about this topic which I’m sure will also help you a lot. You can watch it below.
In my video, I briefly discussed the possible reasons why your Oral-B Braun toothbrush isn’t working. It could be due to a low battery, faulty battery, or faulty internal component.
3 Reasons Why Oral-B Braun Toothbrush Not Working Not Turning On
I decided to dig deep and opened to inspect and here are the three 3 reasons I found why it was not working.
Reason 1 – Low Battery
The battery on my Oral-B Braun can last for up to a week and can last you up to 10 days depending on your use. I use it two times a day, once at night and once in the morning.
When my Oral-B Braun died I knew it must be because of the low battery I decided to leave it on charge. If your Oral-B Braun is not working and flashing a red light, it’s time to give it some rest and put it on charge.
Use the wireless charging base it comes with and leave it for charge for at least 12 to 18 hours.
Reason 2 – Bad Battery or Faulty Wireless Charger
If you also owned your Oral-B Braun for a very long time, the battery might be the issue. I started by opening the bottom cap of the brush using a sharp pry tool, after it was out I could take the whole unit of my brush out to inspect it.
That’s where I grabbed my multimeter set to DC voltage from the battery. You should see a voltage of around 1.3V, if it is below that then your toothbrush needs a replacement.
Since my battery turned out to be fine it was time to check the wireless charging coil, because if the coil is not charging the battery on your toothbrush it wont work.
I placed my brush on the charger and the multimeter to DC voltage and while touching the two solder points of the toothbrush I checked for readings. I got a reading of 0.0972V which meant it was receiving power. If you get 0V, it means the coil is dead.
I also checked for frequency off the charger base by setting the multimeter to AC frequency mode and it showed me some readings, again if you see 0 Hz then the charging base is probably fried.
I also have a short video about this and you can watch it below.
If your Oral-B Braun toothbrush isn’t charging, check its battery or the charging components inside it.
Reason 3 – Faulty Internal Components
If the reason why your Oral-B Braun is not working was not resolved from the above 2 reasons then the problem could be more severe than it seems to be.
Unfortunately this was the case for me, my battery and charging could be working perfectly but still my Oral-B Braun would not work, turns out it was due to a fault in the PCB board.
Check for any damages on the PCB board of your toothbrush and check if the power on and off button works properly.
If the reason for your toothbrush not working is limited to on/off button not working, it can be easily fixed by replacing the button but if the problem is more severe such as a bad PCB board or faulty electric motor than replacing the brush with a new one will be the best option for you.
