I find the Olight Arkfeld Pro to be a reliable and sleek flashlight. It’s got a nice design and good battery life. It comes in quite handy when I’m doing work around the house.
The flashlight can’t help me if it has no power, though. And an Olight Arkfeld Pro obviously won’t have any power if it’s not charging. Here’s a list of things to try when that happens.
You may watch the short video I’ve made about this topic first before continuing to read this article. There, I discussed the 3 reasons why your Olight Arkfeld Pro might not charge.
First reason is your Olight Arkfeld Pro is locked out. The second possible reason is a bad battery. Last reason is power source issues and you can solve this by charging using a power bank.
3 Ways To Deal With An Olight Arkfeld Pro That’s Not Charging
- Unlock the Flashlight
There’s a feature on the Olight Arkfeld Pro that allows users to lock it. It’s pretty cool since it stops the flashlight from turning on as long as you keep it locked.
People who carry flashlights around most of the time know how helpful that is. Some flashlights turn on while moving around and that drains their battery needlessly.
That’s not possible with the Olight Arkfled Pro, though. You have to go out of your way to unlock the flashlight so that it can turn on again. It’s a neat feature that helps preserve the battery.
Though, if your flashlight isn’t charging, it may be why. If you see a single red light on the device like in the photo below instead of the usual charging lights, try to unlock it.
That red light indicates that you currently have the flashlight locked. Remove the flashlight from the charger and unlock it. Then put it back on charge to see if it’s still not charging.
Unlocking the Olight Arkfeld Pro is pretty easy. Press and hold the big blue button for a few seconds and then you’ll see a bunch of green lights pop up.
Release the button a couple of moments after those lights show up. Then, the red light will be gone meaning you unlocked the flashlight successfully.
Put it back on the charger after following this small process and it won’t have any further problems. It should just charge like normal, unless something else was the cause of this problem.
- Power Source Issues
Flashlights like the Olight Arkfeld Pro don’t require a lot of power while charging. That’s why some power sources, like power banks, have trouble charging them.
Lots of power banks don’t start to send power until they feel enough “draw” coming from the device on charge. These Olight flashlights might not provide that draw at times.
In other words, the power bank doesn’t realize it’s charging a device at all, and doesn’t send power to the flashlight. That’s why some power banks have settings to adjust for smaller devices.
For now, though, you could try unplugging the Olight and plugging it back into the power bank. If that doesn’t work, you could try a different power source entirely, like a plug.
I’m using an Anker power bank to charge my Olight Arkfeld Pro in the picture above. These banks have a “trickle mode” that lets them charge less demanding devices like these flashlights too.
Anyone who doesn’t have a power bank like that can simply use a power plug, though. That should get the flashlight to charge again without issues.
While you’re at it, make sure that the magnetic base of the Olight is clean too. These can sometimes get dirty and stop the charger from sitting properly on the device.
Keep the contact points on the charger and flashlight clean to avoid connection issues. A wipe or dry microfibre cloth should do the job just fine for cleaning magnetic bases.
- Faulty Battery
A faulty battery will stop your Olight Arkfeld Pro from charging. Battery problems aren’t that common with these flashlights though, which is why the company offers lifetime warranties for them.
Regardless, it’s still possible you got one with a bad battery inside it. Now, there are two things you could do to deal with this. The first one is claiming the warranty.
If you bought the flashlight from Olight directly, their lifetime warranty will cover the issue. They’ll send you a functional replacement free of any extra costs!
People that got their Arkfeld Pro from a different seller won’t be as lucky. They might have to take repairs into their own hands, which will require testing the battery first!
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the Olight from the back and expose the battery. That’ll make it possible to test it with a multimeter like I’m doing in the image above.
When testing the battery’s voltage, confirm that the reading is close to 3.7v. If you’re getting a reading much lower than that, it means the battery is no longer healthy.
You could try to replace the unhealthy battery with a replacement 3.7v battery. But, the Olight Arkfeld Pro doesn’t make it easy for users to swap the batteries on their own.
It might be easier to just buy a new flashlight unless you want to go through the trouble of handling replacements.
