The Manscaped trimmer is one of the best trimmer I have used in my life, its light compact and the design is just too beautiful. I take it with me whenever I’m traveling but one time when I took it with me on a trip it bailed on me.
I refused to turn on and I was stuck with a long beard before an important event to attend, until I decided to fix the trimmer and make it work.
I also have a short video about this topic and you may want to watch it first before you continue reading this article. You can watch it below.
On my video, I demonstrated how you can fix your Manscaped trimmer that won’t turn on by checking if its travel lock is on, if it has a battery or charging issue, if its on/off switch is working fine, or if it has a motor issue.
4 Reasons Why Manscaped Trimmer Not Turning On
Here are the 4 reasons I found as to why my trimmer was not working and here is how I fixed it.
Reason 1 – Travel Lock Activated
When the travel lock is activated the trimmer will not turn on on the press of the power button.
It’s a safety feature that can be activated by pressing the power button three times, the LED indicator would go from low to high to indicate that the lock has been activated.
If the safety lock is activated the trimmer wont work just like mine refused to work as I accidently locked it. To remove the lock I simply pressed the power button three times again and it started working perfectly.
Reason 2 – Battery or Charging Problem
If your Manscaped trimmer is still not turning even after removing the travel lock then the problem might arise due to battery or charging coil problems.
Even though my trimmer now worked fine I decided to take a deeper look, I briefly disassembled the trimmer and accessed its internals to take a closer look at the battery and to see if the battery was swollen or expanded.
The Mascaped trimmer uses a wireless charging coil to charge its battery and if it’s damaged the battery won’t charge and the trimmer wont turn on.
To test this I placed the whole board into the charging base and turned on the charger. If the charging process is working fine the board would light up but if you don’t see any light that means that the charging coil is damaged and needs replacing.
I also checked the health of the original battery using a multimeter. The Manscaped trimmer uses a 3.7V battery, if you see a voltage that is far below this mark that means the battery is dead and only replacing it can fix it for you.
Mine showed a healthy voltage of 3.78V meaning it was healthy and working perfectly fine.
Reason 3 – On/Off Switch or PCB Problem
If your battery is healthy and measuring its voltage shows a healthy charge but the trimmer still doesn’t turn on? The problem might arise from your on/off switch or the PCB board, it might have been damaged.
While the Manscaped trimmer was open I quickly inspected to see if there was water damage, you want to look for burn marks or short circuits on the board.
If you find any of these signs that means your trimmer has PCB problems and taking it to a professional can help you fix it.
Reason 4 – Motor Problem
If you own your trimmer for a very long time just like me then your trimmer might not be working due to the motor problem.
To see if the motor of my Manscaped trimmer worked or not I conducted a test and connected three AA batteries together to simulate a voltage of 3.7V, then I directly connected the motor to the external batteries.
You should see the LED light up and the motor to start running again, if you are greeted with complete silence and only the LED has turned on then your Manscaped trimmer motor might be dead and only replacing it could fix this issue.
