Freebird Shaver Not Working, Not Turning On

A few mornings ago, I was rushing to get ready and grabbed my Freebird shaver like I always do. But this time nothing happened, there was no light, no sound and the shaver was completely dead. I thought I forgot to charge it, but it turns out that even after charging it, the Freebird shaver did not turn on.

This is where I realised something was way wrong with my shaver and that it needed some fixing. Using my technical experience, I decided to dig in and the matters into my own hands. Here are some of the common fixes that you can try to fix your Freebird Shaver not working.

But before you go on reading this article, you could first watch the short YouTube video I’ve made about this topic. You can watch the video down below.

On the video, I showed how to fix the Freebird shaver if its battery has a problem, if its motor isn’t working, or  if the problem is caused by the On/Off button or a PCB problem.

How to Fix Freebird Shaver Not Working, Not Turning On

To fix the Freebird shaver we need to take a deeper look into the electrical components of the shaver, these components are hidden behind the plastic cover which we need to open.

1. Take a prying tool to open the sides of the Freebird Shaver, which are stuck together with plastic hinges. These are really easy to take off and require very little power to remove.

2. Now you will find two screws holding the top cover of the Freebird shaver in place, you need to remove both the screws before prying open the top cover of the shaver. Once removed use very little force to remove the front cover.

3. At last, you will find a transparent plastic cover which holds every electrical component below it. Carefully pry it out using a sharp pry tool and remove the whole electrical unit out of the body.

There might be three reasons why the Freebird shaver won’t charge or won’t work. Here are the those reasons and fixes around them.

the transparent plastic cover holds every electrical component below it.

Reason 1 – Battery Problem

1. This might be one of the most common reasons if your Freebird shaver won’t charge; the battery might be dead, or it might not be receiving a charge at all.

2. Remove the battery, which is located alongside the motor and test it for voltage with a multimeter. If the battery output is around 3.7V, the battery is fine, but if the voltage is below 3.7V, the battery is dead and needs a replacement.

it uses a 102627 rechargeable battery.

3. Check the wiring at the charging port and make sure that the wires are soldered in place, If everything seems fine, the reason for Freebird shaver not working might be something else.

I also have a short video which specifically addresses this charging issue on a Freebird Shaver. The video shows the steps which you need to do in order to fix this problem. You can watch it down below.

Reason 2 – Bad Motor

1. If you own your Freebird shaver from a long time now there might be a chance that the motor might have gone bad. To check if the motor is working or not use a external power source for example a power supply or three AAA batteries to generate around 3.7V of power.

2. The Freebird shaver motor uses input of 3.7V, put your power supply to 3.7V and check if the motor spins or not. If the motor is spinning it means that the problem is not in the motor, but if the motor doesn’t run replacing the motor can fix your problem and save you money.

The Freebird shaver motor uses input of 3.7V.

Reason 3 – Electronic Board Problem

1. If both the battery and motor of the Freebird shaver seem to be working fine, the problem must be with the electronic board. While the Freebird shaver is opened, take a closer look at the board and check for burning signs.

2. Also, check if the on/off button works properly or not as it is a important component in connecting the motor to the battery of Freebird shaver.

test the on off button.

After carefully inspecting my Freebird shaver, I was able to fix the problem and get my shaver running again. So if your Freebird shaver isn’t turning on or doesn’t work, don’t panic and don’t just replace it yet its usually a simple problem that you can fix yourself and save yourself a lot of money.
