As a car enthusiast and a DIY professional I like to keep my car clean by giving it regular washes. There is a lot of dirt that my car catches and the weekend just feels like the best time to give something as precious as a car a proper wash.
I usually use my Greenworks Pressure washer which works great but last week it just decided to not dispense any soap at all. I was left confused as to why my washer wont work all of a sudden and it turns out it’s the way i was using it.
By the way, I also made a short video about this topic and you can watch it below.
In the video, I showed the different ways to solve this problem: make sure to dilute the detergent, check for any clogs in the soap applicator, inspect the soap tube for any blockage, make there’s sure no water supply issue, and use the correct soap nozzle or applicator.
5 Simple Ways to Fix Greenworks Pressure Washer Soap Not Working
If you also use Greenworks Pressure washer and the soap is not being dispensed, here are 5 ways to fix it.
Fix 1 – Ensure Proper Soap Dilution
This is something that many people can do out of pure excitement but the fact is more soap doesn’t mean that you will get a better result.
I used to do this until one day my friend noticed this stupid mistake of mine and told me to keep the concentration of water proper.
By proper I mean you should always use 1 part soap and 10 parts water for cars and increase the concentration for soap according to the tasks and cleaning tasks.
I also make sure to use only washer specific detergent and not household soaps which are thick and can cause problems.
Fix 2 – Inspect for Clogs in Soap Applicator
If your Greenworks Pressure washer is pulling any soap the first thing I would do after making sure the soap and water ratio is correct is to check for clogs in the soap applicator itself.
Over time it can be clogged with soap residue or just dirt from the water itself which can clog the opening of the applicator and stop it from working.
Clean the opening with a soft brush and clean water to ensure proper working and soap dispensing out of the applicator.
Fix 3 – Check the Soap Tube
Now if you are wondering where the soap tube is, well don’t worry I’m here to tell. The soap tube is connected to the applicator and goes inside the solution bottle to catch the soapy water and output it out.
If the soap tube is clogged with debris and dirt it might not throw any soap water out of the applicator. Make sure to check if it is securely attached to the applicator and submerges in the solution entirely.
Fix 4 – Verify Water Supply and Pump Function
Now even though I call myself a “DIY Expert” this is where I forgot to properly feed my machine with the water.
My Greenworks Pressure Washer was placed too above the water source which was a bucket which made it difficult for my washer to fetch water.
If you also use a bucket like me to feed the machine water, ensure it is not positioned too low from the machine. As soon as I made sure it was not positioned too low, my pressure washer started working like magic again.
Fix 5 – Use the Correct Soap Nozzle/Applicator
The Greenworks Pressure Washer is made to be used and dispenses soap only when it is attached with a proper soap nozzle made by Greenworks.
I tried using the pressure washer without the proper applicator as I thought it would work properly but it turns out it would result in soap not dispensing out of the hose.
Attaching the applicator back on fixed the issue for me, so if you have misplaced your nozzle, replacing it with a Greenworks Pressure Washer applicator can fix all the issues for you.
It’s very important that you know how to use the Greenworks Pressure washer correctly in order to avoid a problem like this. I have also made a short video about this topic and you can watch it below.
