EBL Battery Charger Lights Meaning

EBL chargers have a small light on top of each slot. Those lights aren’t there to simply tell users where the battery goes. They have a much more important function than that.

Each one tells users about the condition of the battery in the corresponding slot. To find out more about the lights on your EBL battery charger and their meaning, check out this summary of each one.

The Meaning of EBL Battery Charger Lights

EBL Charger With Solid Green Lights

Let’s start off with the simplest and nicest light on the charger, which is the solid green light. This light on an EBL charger only shows up when a cell on charge reaches full power.

In other words, this solid green light that represents your battery’s charging being complete. Here’s what it will look like when all the cells on your charger reach 100% battery.

It’s safe to take your cells out of the charger after seeing this light.

EBL Charger With Solid Red Lights

A solid red light on the EBL charger symbolizes charging. It’s the most common light on these things, as it shows up every time you put a cell inside the charger.

You can see what it looks like in the image down here. This light stays on for as long as it takes your cell to get to 100% of its capacity.

There’s no issue when you see this light. Let your cells keep charging and this light will shift into the solid green one on its own, after the cells reach full power.

Sometimes, some cells charge quicker than other cells. You can see that in my picture from earlier. That’s why some lights shine solid green and some shine solid red.

This isn’t something to worry about either. It happens all the time, and you just have to wait for the battery still showing a red light to charge entirely before taking it off.

EBL Battery With Flashing Red Lights

The only time you have to worry about problematic lights on an EBL charger is when the lights flash red. This specific light is a warning sign of sorts, and something you should watch out for.

Specifically speaking, the red flashing lights on an EBL charger signal problematic batteries. Whenever you try to charge a cell that has problems, the charger’s light will blink like this:

It’ll keep alternating between red and no light at all. As soon as you notice that happening, take the problematic cells out and don’t put them back in.

This light only pops up when your cells aren’t accepting charge. Now, a cell might not accept charge because it’s dead, or because there’s some kind of imbalance inside it causing problems.

Either way, it isn’t safe to charge that particular battery and you shouldn’t attempt to do it again. It could cause problems with the charger, or even lead to user harm.

Something Interesting You Should Know

That’s it for all the main lights you should know about on an EBL charger. But, there’s one more thing I want to talk about before wrapping this up.

Unlike other similar chargers, like the Energizer or Amazon Basics battery chargers, the EBL can power individual cells. If you don’t get what I mean, just take a look at this image:

Those other chargers don’t begin powering cells until you put two of them together. You need to put a pair of cells in slot 1+2 (or 3+4) for charging to begin.

The EBL charger doesn’t have that restriction though. It can charge individual batteries without any trouble, and that’s something I find pretty cool which is why I wanted you guys to know.
