If you’re having trouble with the fitting of your Coxreels hose reel not turning easily, I suspect there’s something wrong with the hose itself. But, that’s not how easy troubleshooting is, is it?
It’s important to get down into detail and examine the situation, and I’m here to help you do exactly that. I’ll walk you through the possibilities and help get your Coxreels working once more.
Coxreels Hose Reel Fitting Not Turning Easily – Solved
- Wrong Size Hose
The most common root for a lot of Coxreels problems is using a hose that’s not the right size. It’s really common among newer users who just purchased their Coxreels tool.
If you’re one of them, I suggest ensuring you have a hose/cable that’s the optimal size for your specific model. The fitting may not be turning easily as motion is restricted due to the hose’s size.
This happens whether you’re using a cable that’s too big or one that’s too thick. Either way, there will be a negative effect on motion, and you’ll have trouble with your Coxreels.
If you look up, you’ll see a photo of my Coxreels with a hose that’s quite big. This big size is making it hard to turn the fitting easily, and causing complications with general use.
But, luckily all those complications are easy to get rid of. All users need to do to handle this problem is to get a hose that matches their Coxreels’ specifications.
With the right cable, there shouldn’t be problems turning the fitting on the hose reel.
- Lubricate The Fitting
While it’s not the most likely scenario, there may be corrosion or rusting around your Coxreels’ fitting. Either of these makes it harder to turn the fitting and could be the reason for this.
But, it’s another easy thing to deal with. First, inspect the fitting itself for the issues I mentioned earlier. If you happen to see anything, you’ll need some lubrication.
Anti-rust solutions like WD-40 and any safe lubricant will be enough to get your Coxreels fitting turning easily again. Just apply it well across the fitting and rub it in nicely.
That alone will be enough to make an immediate difference. With less friction, it’s much easier to turn the hose reel fitting without having to use too much force.
You may need a new fitting if there’s a bit too much rusting on the current one, as it’ll have problems turning otherwise. But, I doubt it should have gotten to that point.
- Hose Is Not Guided Properly
Another big mistake some people make which makes it harder to turn the fitting easily is improperly wrapping the hose around their Coxreels. This leads to uneven wrapping.
Uneven wrapping is a big problem because it ruins the flow of the hose on the tool. It doesn’t come out or retract as easily anymore. This also affects the fitting.
Because of their relation, the restricted flow of the cable causes problems for the fitting by making it harder to turn. Look down below and you’ll see the improper wrapping I’m talking about.
And yet again, like the other fixes I mentioned, this one is easy too. You just need to take the hose off and wrap it again. This time around, guide it with your hands and ensure it’s smooth.
There shouldn’t be tangles, bumps, or any other things that may ruin motion. With smooth flow, the fitting should turn easily too, and you shouldn’t have this issue any longer!
