I find the BOSCH 1618571014 SDS adapter very handy in the house. Every now and then some drilling is required at home, often on my brick walls.
Now, how does this gadget help me? Well, the BOSCH 1618571014 SDS adapter enables me to fit a 3-jaw chuck onto my rotary hammer, which has an SDS shank. SDS stands for “slotted drive system”.
It is the mechanism that makes it possible for me to fit the drill bit I have into the drill chuck. Mark you the end of the drill bit is the one referred to as the shank, and the section of the drill that holds that bit securely is the chuck.

There are several reasons I prefer to use the BOSCH adapter, one of them being that I don’t have to buy a special drill bit every time I have a different task to do. I often find myself using the common drill bit I normally keep around, which has a round head.
It fits very well in the hammer drill. You see, as long your hammer has an SDS shank, you can use different bits with the BOSCH adapter.
The good thing is, although this adapter comes with an instruction manual, you don’t need to have any technical knowledge for you to use the gadget. Simply hold your rotary hammer drill firmly in your hand, and then insert the adapter into it.
The next thing you do is switch on the drill to confirm the adapter is rotating as it should. If it is, switch off the drill and then insert your drill bit into the SDS chuck.
A BOSCH adapter comes with a key that you use to tighten the drill bit once you have inserted it into the chuck. That’s all. Your hammer drill is now ready for use.
Although BOSCH 1618571014 SDS chuck adapters are popular with construction work, you should find it very beneficial at home. Think of the number of times you find yourself requiring a reinforcing bar – like when you want to fix something onto a wall.
These reinforcing bars, commonly known as “rebars”, must be drilled to create holes. These are the holes where you put your bits through before those bits can enter the holes in the wall.
Remember the rebar you use ensures your wall does not crack beyond the diameter of hole you are drilling. It, kind of, absorbs any tension or force that would otherwise damage your wall.
In short, the benefit of an SDS chuck adapter is more than you might imagine.
In fact, I consider the BOSCH chuck adapter a must-have tool, especially keeping in mind that things keep cropping up where I need to use a hammer drill. Like, a friend or relative might pop in with a gift that can only be safe if hang on a wall.
Or I may purchase some electronic equipment that use long cables. Of course, these cables need to be held in place with something like a rebar.
When you have such needs arising at home, you realize how valuable your BOSCH SDS chuck adapter is.
