As I first got into DIY projects, I didn’t care much about battery chargers. I just though of them as bulky power stations and didn’t think about their maintenance much.
Guilty to say that this laziness on my end landed me into tricky situations with my tools not having a reliable power source.
On top of that, I had to waste 100s of dollars in replacement equipment. This sting was enough for me to learn everything there was to know about a battery charger.
Here, I will explain the different types of indicators you gotta look out for and how to tackle different situations when the battery isn’t responding to the charger.
Bauer Battery Charger Indicators Meaning
A Steady Green Light with Blinking Red Indicator
You don’t got anything to worry about when the Bauer battery charger is showing you the steady green light with the blinking red light. The green light is just saying that you’re good when it comes to the battery placement and condition.
From there, the red blinking light is there to show that your battery isn’t fully charged, and the charging is underway. So, be patient and wait out the charging time that will be like 38 to 42 mins.
Solid Green Light with Solid Red Indicator
After 35 or something minutes, the battery should charge fully. At this time, you will see a solid green light with the solid red indicator. The solid green indicator like always is there to show that the battery is in good shape and connected properly.
However, the solid red indicator in this situation will point to the fact that your battery is fully charged. This is the time where you gotta take out the battery from the charger and store it or use it in another project.
The Red Light Will Blink Without any Response From The Green Indicator
I’ll say this again that if the Green Light isn’t there as a steady indicator, you messed up somewhere! Here, I can safely say that the battery is to blame, and it isn’t in the best shape.
The blinking red indicator by itself will only show up when the battery is too hot or too cold. However, if you’re just finishing a project, then the battery is likely too hot.
Many people and even I sometimes forget to let the battery cool down after I am done through a project. I’d just ask you to pop the battery out in this situation and let it rest.
After like 12 minutes, you can slide the battery back into the charger and it should show the blinking red light with the solid green light.
The indicators are Blinking Green and Red Lights
Lastly, we got the most annoying situation so far — both indicators are blinking. Now, as I said before, if the indicator isn’t solid green, you’re probably dealing with battery issues. The same is true for situation when the green indicator is blinking.
I’ll bet all my marbles on the fact that the battery is dead or defective. Anyhow, you just gotta grab some connector wires in this case and use a fresh battery to jump this dead one.
Just connect the positive with positive and negative with negative, and leave both batteries along for 9 or 10 minutes. From there, pop the dead battery back into the charger and you’ll see that lovely solid green light.
I made a video below to demonstrate how to reset the bauer battery.
Don’t forget to also involve the people on the Bauer’s end to help you if you’re stuck in any hardware related problems with the charger or the battery.
