💡Planning Tips

Tile coverage tip: Use the installed exposure from the tile data sheet, not the full physical tile size. Headlap and sidelap can change the count by more than a full roof square.
Accessory tip: Measure ridge, hip, valley, eave, and rake lengths separately when ordering trim pieces. Field tile count alone will not cover cap or edge details.
Safety note: Tile roofing is heavy and roof work is hazardous. Confirm the structure can carry the selected tile load, follow local code and manufacturer fastening requirements, and use appropriate fall protection.

The roof pitch affect how much material you need because of the slope. It’s not something that a basic floor plan consider. To compensate for pitch, add about 12 percent for a 6:12 slope relative to what a flat plan would say. That means an additional cost and much heavier load on the structure.
