I thought my Energizer charger had finally given up on me after I tried charging my AA batteries for the 3rd time this week. My son loves RC cars and I use the Energizer batteries for their remote controllers all the time.
So when I tried charging the Energizer AA batteries last night the CHPRO battery charger lit up and started making weird noises. The Red X symbol was something that I had never seen before and the beeping?

Here are the different meanings of the indicator lights on an Energizer CHPRO battery charger: red means the battery is 0 – 49% charged, amber means it’s now 50% – 99% charged, green means it’s already fully charged, and a red X + beeping means a bad or incompatible battery.
The Meanings of the Different Lights and Sounds on Your Energizer CHPRO Battery Charger
The Energizer CHPRO battery charger uses lights and sounds to communicate to the user. If your battery is full it will flash some colour but if your battery is bad it will flash another code with continuous beeping sound.
I was confused with the different lights that it showed me until I realised it was nothing to worry about.
What the Lights on the Energizer CHPRO Mean
1. Red Light / 1 Beep – The red light is always complimented with a beep, this indicates that the charging is in progress and the battery level is between 0-49%.
2. Amber Light – The charging levels are between 50-99% you can remove the charger if you are in emergency but I would recommend you to charge it fully.
3. Green Light / 2 Beep – If you see this light, your battery is fully charged and is ready to be used again. The charger will also beep twice to let the user know that the charging is full.
Even my son knows the batteries are ready to be put inside his RC car now.
4. Red X Sign / Continuous Beeping – If you see a red light on a X symbol then you my friend has run out of luck. This light sign indicates that the battery is bad and is not able to hold a charge.
Only replacing your AA battery will fix this problem. Usually this light is followed by continuous beeping that I also encountered when I tried charging a bad battery.

Here is a Pro tip: always make sure to charge an even number of batteries together, putting only one AA battery will not start the charging process, either 2 batteries or 4 batteries can charge at a single time.
