I use my Einhell 18V battery a lot more than any other batteries in my collection, not just because it’s reliable I love the power it provides. A few days I was getting up to charge my Einhell battery because I knew it was not charged properly, and I needed it for my power tools that I would be using the next day.
As soon as I plugged the battery into the charger, I saw flashing red and green lights from my Einhell battery charger. I was left confused, and I knew something was wrong with my battery.
Usually when I plug in the battery, I see a flashing red light but this time it was different. I immediately took the help of the internet and quickly found a way to fix the Einhell battery not charging problems in minutes and here is how you can do it too.
I’ve also made a short video about this topic in which I showed the steps on how to fix this problem. You can watch it below.
I fixed this problem this by jump-starting the problematic Einhell battery by using another healthy 18V Einhell battery. I connect their positive and negative terminals for 15 seconds, remove them, and place the bad Einhell battery back on the charger.
A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Fix an Einhell Battery That’s Not Charging
1. To fix your Einhell battery, you would require another healthy Einhell battery, ideally a fully charged battery and a similar voltage battery (18V or 24V). This healthy battery will help transfer some voltage to the dead battery.
You would also require using a male-to-male jumper wire with crimped terminal pins.
2. In my case my dead Einhell battery is rated at 18V so I will take another Einhell battery of the same voltage i.e. 18V.
3. On top of the battery, some markings show both the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals. Find this terminal and connect the + terminal to the + terminal of the healthy battery and the – terminal to the – terminal of the healthy battery using the jumper wires.
4. Leave both terminals connected for 15 to 20 seconds and then disconnect the connection from both batteries. By this time, there will be enough voltage in the old battery, which will help it charge back up again.
5. Take the problematic Einhell battery and try charging it again with a battery charger, and the problem should be resolved, and the battery should now show a red flashing light.
It’s very important that you know the different meanings of the indicator lights in an Einhell battery charger. I’ve also made about this and you can watch it below.
A blinking green means the battery is ready to charge and this will turn into a blinking red while charging. You’ll see a solid red when the battery is half-charged and this will become a solid green when it becomes fully charged.
It’s not good when you see a solid red and green because this means a hot or cold delay. And as mentioned earlier here, flashing red and green is also not good because this indicates a damaged battery.
It turns out the problem with my Einhell battery was that it dropped its internal voltage below a threshold, which left it unrecognizable by the Einhell battery charger, and it displayed a red-green flashing code.
I found out that using another healthy battery of the same voltage and jumping some power into the dead battery can bring the dead battery back to life.
So, if you find yourself stuck in a similar situation to mine, don’t worry and just follow the steps above and get back to working on your repair jobs.
