As a daily DIY nerd I use my Einhell battery almost daily for my power tools and to charge it back to its full capacity I rely on my Einhell battery charger. While I thought using a battery charger is an easy task, it turns out, it is not.
The Einhell battery charger can display up to 6 different light codes, all of them having a different meaning.
Even though these light codes are explained on the charger with a simple label it is not enough for me to understand what is going on with my battery and due to this reason I took over the internet and researched everything about what the Einhell battery charger lights means.
But before you read the rest of this article you could also first watch the short video I’ve made about this topic. The video is down below.
If you see a blinking green, it means the battery is ready to charge, and it will display a blinking red when the battery is already charging underway. You’ll see a solid red when the battery is half-way charged and this will become a solid green when the charging is finished.
A solid red and green indicates a hot or cold delay while a flashing red and green means the battery might be damaged or need a reset.
A Simple Guide to Einhell Battery Charger Light Meanings
Here is a simple guide to help you understand all the light codes on the Einhell battery charger which will make your life easier.
Flashing Green – The blinking green light showed up when I plugged in my Einhell battery in the power socket. This light code meant that my charger was receiving power and was ready to charge.
Steady Red – The Steady red light code lit up when I plugged in my battery for the first time in the charger. This meant that my battery level was at a very low level and it needed to be charged further.
Flashing Red – The flashing red light on the Einhell battery charger means that the battery is halfway charged and can be used again with the power tools. This light means that the battery has achieved 50% power, but I would recommend charging it to 100% before using it again.
Steady Green – The Steady green light means that the battery has been fully charged and is ready to be used again. I usually wait 1 hour before it is fully charged and remove the battery but Einhell battery charger automatically stops the charging process when the battery is 100% charged to stop the battery from overcharging.
Solid Red and Green – The solid Red and Green might be displayed on your Einhell charger to indicate a hot/cold delay. This code means that the battery is not having a suitable temperature to be charged. I would recommend keeping the battery aside in a normal temperature environment and waiting 1 hour before trying to charge it again.
Flashing Red and Green – The flashing red and green light code on the Einhell battery charger is displayed when the battery is dead and is not recognised by the charger. I was shown this light code once when my battery had died and wouldn’t take charge.
Resetting the battery can help you fix this problem most of the time but it might also require you to change the battery if the problem persists even after trying to reset the dead battery.
In case you want to do a reset, I have made a short video which shows how you can do this. You can watch it below.
I did the reset using another similar 18V Einhell battery. I connected their positive and negative terminals for 15 seconds, remove them, and place the bad Einhell battery back on the charger.
