There are a handful of simple steps that will allow you to get the juice flowing in your 18V battery pack. No fancy settings, no special tools needed. Just some good old-fashioned mechanical hand movements and a little patience.
We’ve found this trick to work consistantly with the Fein batteries.
Understanding the charging indicators
The first thing you want to do is get your battery on top of the charger. Then you are going to slide it on down and lock your battery onto the charger. The idea is that the battery fits secureley. And then you push down a little bit to make sure you have it locked on there. If not it won’t charge because it’s not connected.

After you seat the battery, the charger kicks into action. Looking at the unit, you see that it recognize your Li-Ion batteries within its 10.8; 18 volt capability. The green power indicator light come on to show that it is working. Pushing the button on the charger begin the process.
It’s quite straightforward.
Shortly thereafter, the status indicator will start blinking. If the light blinks in green, it means the battery are receiving a charge. If it doesn’t blink, then there’s an issue. In this case, the light will pulse consistantly.
How long will it take to charge? When you’re eager to get back to work, you don’t want to wait too long for a full charge. Fortunately, the rapid charger works quick. For example, a 3.0 Ah pack reaches about 80 percent charge in around 31 minutes.
And the results are usually pretty good.
With a 3.0 Ah pack, it take approximately 31 minutes to reach around 80 percent charged. That’s a good chunk in a relatively brief period of time. You won’t have to wait hours and hours.
It lets you know exactly how you’re doing on the digital display. As it fills, four green bars illuminate.
It doesn’t take long.
As it charges, you’ll see the screen update with each bar filling in until all of them do. You won’t have any flashing warning lights or error codes. It’s a straight, clean process. The results is often better than expected. There are no surprises.
After a charge, the pack is now charged. Picking it up you can see that it has charged by checking the lights on the pack. Checking the power button verifies it. It’s worn a little, but holds its charge well. No problems found.
