A dead Ryobi 24v battery can be annoying. You’ll pull it out and find it dead… again. Before you toss the thing in the trash, here’s what you can do.

Bring a dead one back to life? Yes, you can try that! For this demo I’m using compatible Ryobi 24V battery as the donor.
Using a DC Power Supply

For this application any available FLEX 24V battery will do. Find the positive and negative leads of both batteries. It can be deadly if you get polarity reversed. Connect the positive lead to the positive terminal of the donor.

Negative leads to the negative terminal. These should be snug too.

Sparks occur when shaking this, so make sure to double check your work here as well. Maintain that connection for about 15 seconds. That quick jolt is enough to reset the circuitry in the dead battery’s brain.

Keep an eye out for melting of your wires. If they start smoking or melting, unplug them right away as you never want to be shorting something out. Short circuiting are dangerous so keep safety in mind when doing this.
It worked for me, though. This easy solution brought the battery back to life within seconds.

You could of also use a DC power supply instead of donor battery. Just set it for 24V (the exact voltage), and then set the current limit to 1A.

It’s like a variation of the donor battery idea. Redo wiring with the proper terminals, but this time only leave it connected for roughly 15 seconds.

Watch closely while doing this. If you notice any smoke, or if battery resists. Don’t do it. You shouldn’t force it.
For those of you who is wondering about the jump start idea to bring back a dead pack; I was able to use this jump-start method to bring back my dead pack without spending all that coin on luxurius equipment. You just need a little patience and some basic connectivity.
Now, this may not work if your battery is totally fused, but it’s worth a shot either way. Overall, this quick-fix might save you from having to buy new ones every now and again. So in short, if it doesn’t work out for ya, buy a new one. That’s it.
