💡Mortar Estimating Tips

Bed thickness: Measure the compacted finished bed, not the loose ridge height. Thin ridges collapse when tile, stone, brick, or block is pressed into place.
Bag yield: Bag counts are based on mixed volume. Dry field-mix volume is shown separately because loose sand and cement shrink after water, packing, and hydration.
Always follow the mortar manufacturer specification, substrate requirements, local masonry standards, and structural drawings. This calculator estimates material quantity only; it does not verify bond strength, waterproofing, drainage, or load-bearing design.
